Sam Fender has donated the complete sum of his £25,000 award prize money to the trust for venues, which works to save the UK's grassroots music venues.
The star was presented with the award on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the best record of the previous year.
He has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his initial steps.
"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it hadn't been for all the performances I played around the North East, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are in difficulty."
From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Over the past year, major artists including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to help venues survive, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which goes to help independent venues.
Sam Fender also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to support thirty-eight grassroots venues across Britain.
These funds helped locations that were facing imminent closure due to issues stemming from flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.
Other venues obtained funding support in modernizing infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted musicians and concertgoers.
"The idea that revenue from concerts in large arenas supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.
He is far from the only musician to contribute his award funds to worthy causes.
Back when the band received the trophy in the mid-90s for their record their work, lead singer the singer declared that the band would contribute their cash to the non-profit War Child.
That year, musician Ms Dynamite split her award among multiple good causes, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they needed updated gear," she shared with a publication.
Two years ago, they contributed their prize money to the local youth club that developed their act, as well as other local music groups.
Also the 1994 recipients the group gave their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.
"Receiving the award was sufficient," stated artist the singer. "The prize was the cherry on top but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our success touched another person's life."
In the past week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had saved several small stages in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.
The first in the city and the other in the city were bought under the Own Our Venues program, which is backed by a national body and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
